nags head hammocks

What makes Nags Head Hammocks better than the rest?? Rope quality... We use only the best rope avaiable, made in the USA to our industry setting standards, by the oldest rope manufacturer in the country.

B. Wood quality... We use white oak exclusively.... another industry first. Other hardwoods, and "mystery woods", are just not as hard and durable. Many of the original sailing vessals that first saw these shores were constructed of white oak.... that's good enough for us!

C. Quality, finish and appearance... nags head hammocks do it all by hand-forming and sanding one piece at a time, then we hand dip in varnish to insure a durable finish, we buff to a smooth feel, then we coat it again. Then, to insure a long life in the elements we dip each piece in our high quality exterior finish once more. Three heavy coatings all together, this process is a Nags Head Hammock exclusive!

D. Hardware... it doesn't get any better!!! We created the highest industry standard met over 18 years ago. We have our hooks and components specially made to offer ease of installation and years of safe relaxation

Are your nags head hammocks made on the Outer Banks of N.C. ?

Yes! Unlike some brands that imply they are made here, we are the Original Rope Hammock Company on the Outer Banks, we have hand-crafted our hammocks within steps of the Atlantic ocean for over 28 years.

Why does it matter?

We have learned a lot about the weathering processes of the sun and elements through 28 years of experience, we might have even made that hammock you played on as a kid. Our hammocks have made it through more than a few hurricanes in their time and we learn more everyday! Nags Head Hammock steam bends the oak stretcher bars, why don't other companies? Comfort... that's why we do it. Its an old tradition that is all but lost. It creates a shape that makes your hammock feel like it was made just for you. A straight bar hammock will never feel as good, but it can be made a good bit cheaper. The curve offers stability and beauty, we will never change that!!!

Is there really a difference in hammocks and does it matter?

You bet!! Quality components and years of experience mean everything. We guarantee our hammocks, chairs and swings against defects in materials and workmanship.

Are your swings and chairs made with the same standards as your nags head hammocks?

The same high quality materials and craftsmanship found in our hammocks can be found in every swing and chair we make... Please contact us with your questions or comments.. it is always a pleasure to hear from you!

What is your return policy?

Nags Head Hammock has a money back guarantee. Examine any item in your order. If not satisfied, return it unused, in original packaging for a complete merchandise refund or exchange.

Are internet prices the same as your shop prices?

Actually they are.. but quite often we offer Specials, Incentives or Combination Specials that are only available at our site.

What's the best rope for a hammock?

Polyester... Your best choice, a very soft rope, often mistaken for cotton, it is highly resistant to mildew, wear and tear, and direct sun. It is the most comfortable and durable rope offered, also available in dyed colors.

Cotton... A nice natural fiber, but this also makes it much more likely to be affected by mildew and wear and tear. Although used years ago prior to availablity of high quality polyester rope, it has lost popularity in recent years. This is quite possibly due to the beautiful dyed polyester ropes now available, such as our oatmeal color.

What is the weight capacity?

It depends on the manufacturer's choice of hardware and rope sizes. We use the thickest 7/32" rope, our hardware is hot dipped galvanized. No other company uses connecting components larger than ours, and no one uses the heavy rust-resistant qalvanizing we use. I'm confused by size descriptions what do I look for? Look for actual dimensions, some companies change names constantly, don't be fooled by a name that implies a more generous sized hammock than the dimensions justify.Typically, a 54" wide by 84" long (bed size) hammock is large enough for two adults, although a 60" wide hammock is considered "family size"

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, however, customs and duties are the responsibility of the buyer. Shipping charges may be higher than shown by our shopping cart. Payment must be made in U.S. currency and in the form of a bank check or money order. No credit card payments accepted.

I've lost my assembly instructions. How do I get another copy?

Assembly instructions are available on line at nagshead.com
